The Computer Networking Group is involved in numerous areas of networking research, such as QoS-oriented Scheduling, MAC protocols design and evaluation, Network Modeling, Mobile Computing, Sensor Networks, Cellular Networks, Broadband technologies, Internet of Things. Its members are involved in teaching subjects closely related to their research fields (such as Computer Networks, Advanced Network Architectures, Computer Network Applications and Services, Mobile Computing). The CNG research and teaching is carried out in collaboration with industries and research institutions, such as Telecom Italia Lab, Nokia, Nokia Siemens Networks, Thales Alenia Space Italia. The Computer Networking Group is part of the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa, Italy.

CNG members are or were involved in organizing the following events:

  • Winter Simulation Conference 2014, Savannah, Georgia (US), Dec 7-10, 2014
  • MASS 2014 - IEEE International Conference on Mobile Ad hoc and Sensor Systems
  • IGCC 2014 - Fifth International Green Computing Conference
  • IEEE WoWMoM 2014 - International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Networks (Sidney, Australia, June 16-19, 2014).
  • IEEE Infocom 2014 - 33rd IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications (Toronto, Canada, April 27 - May 2, 2014).
  • IEEE WF-IoT 2014 - IEEE World Forum on Internet of Things (Seoul, South Korea, March 6-8, 2014).
  • InfQ 2014, Annual workshop of the Italian Quantitative Informatics group (co-located with IFIP-Performance 2014).

Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf: picture together with professor Luciano Lenzini of the CNG and other university staff, after receiving the Laurea Honoris Causa in Ingegneria Informatica from the University of Pisa (26 May 2006). A video of the ceremony, including an interview (Italian audio) to Bob Kahn, Vint Cerf and Luciano Lenzini, is also available.
